South Philly native Josh Ockimey signs minor league deal with the Philadelphia Phillies

The Phillies added some depth at first base today, signing South Philadelphia native Josh Ockimey to a minor-league contract.
Ockimey is a graduate of Ss. Neumann Goretti High School, which is roughly two miles from Citizens Bank Park. The 26-year old lefty first baseman was drafted in the fifth round by the Boston Red Sox in 2014. He played in Triple A in 2019 and 2021.
Josh Ockimey Minor League Stats
Ockimey hit .204 with 25 home runs and 57 RBIs over 122 games in 2019 and .225 with 15 home runs and 45 RBIs in 98 games in 2021. Just a reminder, there was no season in 2020 thanks to a little thing called COVID-19, which is why we’re skipping a year on the stat sheet.
Josh Ockimey will be a nice organizational depth piece for a minor league system consistently ranked as one of the worst in Major League Baseball.
