Roster Moves: Phillies option Francisco Morales to Triple A Lehigh Valley

After yesterday’s 5-4 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Philadelphia Phillies optioned reliever Francisco Morales to Triple A Lehigh Valley.
Morales, the 22-year old right handed pitcher is ranked as a Top 10 Phillies prospect by Baseball America and MLB.com. He joined the Phillies out West and appeared in two games, coming straight from Double A Reading.
Morales threw two scoreless innings, striking out three, last Monday against the Seattle Mariners in his major league debut, wearing number 69 for the Phillies (nice).

On Friday, he managed to pitch his way into and ultimately out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the bottom of the 10th inning on Friday to earn is first career save in the major leagues.
There was no immediate corresponding move with Morales heading back to Triple A. Zach Eflin is expected to return to the Phillies after a stint on the COVID related IL and start on Tuesday night against the Padres.
Given the current state and ultimate dread of the Phillies bullpen, there’s a good chance we’ll see Morales back up with the big league club in the very near future. Phillies are off today before opening a six game home stand against the Padres and Dodgers tomorrow night.
