Eagles legend Frank Gore betrays Philly fans one final time.

Eagles legend Frank Gore has officially announced his retirement from the NFL. Sadly he has decided to spurn the Birds one more time.
Frank Gore will be retiring as a 49er.

The title “Eagles Legend” gets applied loosely these days. Few men can truly claim the status like Frank Gore.
In the 2015 offseason, he verbally committed to Nick Foles that he would sign as a free agent for $7.5 million. That plan was foiled when Chip Kelly traded Nick Foles away almost immediately afterward.
“Nick Foles called me, I committed to him and said I was going to come. He called me, said congrats, can’t wait to get on the field. And then the next day he gets traded. Then I see Jeremy Maclin, he goes to Kansas City. Then I’m like, ‘Man.’” — via USA Today
Well the rest is history. Frank Gore saw the writing on the wall, or more likely had seen Sam Bradford play in person. He backed out of his verbal commitment and went to play for the Colts.

It would have been the classy thing to do for him to have signed a one-day contract and at least retired an Eagle. Instead, he decided to once again go with the boring and safe choice of retiring with the team he spent most of his career with.
There’s a word for men who only play it safe. It ain’t brave.
The city of Philadelphia and Eagles fans across the country are once again wondering what they did to deserve this treatment, once more with Frank Gore’s cleat marks on our collective backs.
A bitter end to a great career.
