Mock Trade: Eagles acquire dynamic RB from Cleveland in exchange for OL depth

After switching up their playbook midseason, Nick Sirianni and the Eagles became the league’s most effective team on the ground.
With dual-threat QB Jalen Hurts leading the charge, Philadelphia finished the year first in total rushing yards and rushing yards per game. Even after adding star WR AJ Brown, Philly should continue to dominate on the ground in 2022 behind the best offensive line in football.
Gainwell showed promise as a rookie last season and Scott is a serviceable change-of-pace back, but they could certainly use another weapon out of the backfield.
In Bleacher Report’s latest mock trades, they suggested that the Eagles swap OT Andre Dillard for a back that may be expendable in Cleveland:
Eagles get: RB Kareem Hunt
Browns get: OT Andre Dillard, 2023 sixth-round pick
“Hunt is an excellent rusher and receiver who is capable of attaining an elite stat line. He’s so comfortable as a receiver that it’s surprising the Browns didn’t use him in the slot more often when their receiving room was decimated. We’d love to see Hunt in a bigger role.”
“The Eagles are the premier landing spot for Hunt. Though he’d split time with starter Miles Sanders, Hunt would enter an offense that is run-heavy and creative enough to utilize him in various roles. Hunt’s power would complement Sanders’ slashing style well, and he could be another receiving threat for Jalen Hurts.”
Hunt has been vocal about his desire for a new contract while the Browns recently extended fellow running back D’Ernest Johnson. Although Hunt is coming off an injury-riddled 2021 season, he’s been productive during his three-year tenure in Cleveland, totaling over 2,100 yards from scrimmage and 19 TDs.
Miles Sanders is entering the final year of his rookie contract with extra motivation, having dealt with his own injury woes. The Eagles lead-back was amongst the league leaders in yards per carry last season, right behind Kareem Hunt’s current teammate Nick Chubb.
