Aaron Nola, Phillies look to break out the brooms in South Philly against the Washington Nationals

The Philadelphia Phillies will look for a 4-game sweep of the Washington Nationals today at Citizens Bank Park.
The Phillies destroyed Patrick Corbin and the Nets last night, scoring six runs in just 2/3 of an inning, winning the game 11-5. With the win, they moved to 9-1 over their last 10 games, and 11 games above .500 at 59-48 for the first time since May 29, 2019.
The Phillies are now 38-19 since June 1st and 22-13 since losing Bryce Harper, holding a one game lead over the Milwaukee Brewers for the third and final Wild Card spot in the National League.

Rhys Hoskins has hit a home run in three straight games, all in the first inning. The Big Fella is now slashing .252/.341/.489 with an .829 OPS and an OPS+ of 130 on the season, with 23 home runs and 52 RBI.
Hoskins isn’t the only member of the Phillies lineup that’s red hot right now.
JT Realmuto has hit a triple and a home run in two consecutive games and has really turned things up a notch since Harper hit the injured list. Realmuto is now hitting .333/.393/.657 with an OPS of 1.050 since the Phillies lost Harper. During those 28 games, he has 8 home runs and 25 RBI.

Then you have Nick Castellanos, who has been on fire over his last 30 games, slashing .286/.303/.378 with two home runs and 14 RBI to go with 34 hits in his last 119 at-bats.

When you add Alec Bohm into the equation and the fact that over his last 30 games he’s averaging .389 with four home runs and 19 RBI, the Phillies are in prime position to go on a run over the final two months of the season and finally break a decade-long playoff drought.
Aaron Nola will be a key piece for the Phillies down the stretch, and will take the mound today against Nationals Cory Abbott.
Nola is 7-8 on the season with a 3.25 ERA and should have zero issues breaking out the brooms at Citizens Bank Park this afternoon.
The Nationals are 15-37 in their last 52 games and 3-9 in their last 12 road games. To put it as simple as possible, the Nationals are absolutely terrible.
