Salary Cap: Eagles restructure contracts, free up nearly $7M in cap space

Just when you thought Howie Roseman was done for the offseason, he finds a way to maneuver the salary cap.
Per ESPN’s Field Yates, the Eagles GM restructured Lane Johnson and Jake Elliott’s contract, freeing up $6.9M in cap relief.
In a near annual rite of passage, the Eagles have restructured the contract of OT Lane Johnson, per source.

Philly converted $5.88M of Johnson’s base salary and $2.715M of K Jake Elliot’s base salary into signing bonuses, creating about $6.9M in 2022 cap space.

Following the moves, Philadelphia has roughly $5.9M in cap space heading into the regular season. I wouldn’t put it passed Howie Roseman to make a move at the trade deadline if the Eagles play like championship contenders.
Jalen Hurts and the Eagles are set to kick off the season in Detroit this Sunday at 1 PM EST on FOX.
