For the second straight week, the Philadelphia Eagles completely embarrassed themselves, this time at the…
Roll Tide or Boomer Sooner? Alabama fans have launched a bizarre online campaign to reclaim Jalen Hurts as a member of the Crimson Tide.
After the Philadelphia Eagles destroyed the New York Giants on Saturday night, this tweet started quite the debate on social media, in saying that Hurts was the first Alabama quarterback to win an NFL playoff game since Richard Todd led the Jets past the Raiders way back in 1983.
Jalen Hurts an Alabama Quarterback?
Quick recap on Hurts’ collegiate career…
Hurts played his first three seasons of college football at Alabama, so the tweet isn’t necessarily wrong. He was part of the team that won the 2018 College Football National Championship, before using his final year of eligibility at Oklahoma.
The reason Hurts transferred, is because during the National Championship, he was benched at halftime for true freshman Tua Tagovailoa. Bama went on to beat the Bulldogs 26-23 in overtime.
With Tua on the rise, Hurts then left the Crimson Tide to join the University of Oklahoma Sooners. Oklahoma started the season 7-0, won the Big 12 Championship, and then ultimately lost to LSU 63-28 in the 2019 Peach Bowl.
Jalen Hurts College Numbers
Regardless of what school “claims” Hurts, I promise you that the Eagles quarterback could care less. All things considered, it looks like he was no problem representing either school, while everyone argues like children about it online.
If I had to make an official ruling, then it would have to be Alabama.
He played three years compared to just one at Oklahoma. That’s just the numbers. Plus, I hate the Big 12. SEC defines college football. Period. End of story. Roll Tide.
