JT Realmuto, Trea Turner, and Kyle Schwarber are gearing up to represent Team USA in the World Baseball Classic in just under a month.
The three Phillies sat down with MLB Network on Monday and talked about the honor of representing the United States on one of baseball’s biggest stages.
JT Realmuto: “Playing for your country is something special”
“One of those bucket list items that you kind of hope that you get that call to represent your country. Being able to play with Trea in college, playing overseas in Japan…being able to do it this go-around with a bunch of Hall of Famers, it’s going to be fun” – Kyle Schwarber
“Anytime that phone rings, I’ll always do it. It’s so much fun being able to compete with the best in the world and play against opponents you admire. Every country brings energy to this tournament, I watched it last time, and it was electric. I’m excited to share the field with players on my side and everyone we face” – Trea Turner
“Being able to play for your country means something different, means something special, and I’m just excited for the opportunity” – JT Realmuto
Team USA is absolutely stacked, with many stars around the league set to join these three Phillies at the WBC. Team USA is a slight underdog to the Dominican Republic, as the DR currently sits at +200 while the USA sits at +225.
