Eagles have second-best odds to land star running back this offseason

Even though the Eagles may lose Miles Sanders to free agency this offseason, there’s some chatter that they could replace him with one of the best running backs in the sport.
Somehow, someway, the Eagles are now being linked to Titans RB Derrick Henry. Mostly because Henry’s 2023 team odds were released, and of course, Philadelphia came in with the second-best odds to land him this offseason.
King Henry to the Eagles?
Not really sure how Bookies.com comes up with these odds; I just can’t wrap my head around the Eagles trading assets to get a 29-year-old back who’s set to make $10M next season.
Howie Roseman has only ever paid one back that kind of money, LeSean McCoy, and it was an extension. Henry only has one year left on his deal.
The team notoriously devalues the running back position. If they’re not going to resign Sanders – who will likely make less than $10M next year – why would they turnaround and trade draft capital to acquire an older back on an expiring contract? It just doesn’t add up.
Sure, Henry is arguably the best running back in football when healthy. But he’s getting awfully close to that 30-year-old mark where nearly every running back falls off a cliff. It’s worth mentioning that he got 382 touches in 2022 as well – the second-most of any player in the league.
There’s no denying that a Henry-Hurts duo behind this Eagles offensive line is tantalizing to think about. In reality, the Eagles aren’t the type of team to make this kind of deal.
