JT Realmuto becomes the first Phillies player to hit for the cycle since 2004

JT Realmuto hit for the cycle last night against the Arizona Diamondbacks, becoming the ninth player in Phillies franchise history to accomplish the feat.
Realmuto became just the 17th catcher in MLB history to hit for the cycle and the first Phillies player to do so since David Bell in 2004.
To Note: Chuck Klein is the only Phillies player to do it more than once, way back in 1931 and 1933.
Realmuto now joins the Miami Marlins’ Luis Arraez and the Baltimore Orioles’ Cedric Mullins as the only third player to hit for the cycle in the 2023 season.
He completed the cycle with a ninth inning double, hitting a home run in the second inning, tripling in the third, and hitting a single in the fifth inning.
According to MLB.com, teams were 21-0 in baseball history when they had a player hit for the cycle, walk, score three runs and drive in three runs.
With the Phillies loss last night, they are now 21-1.
JT Realmuto Postgame
“Yeah, I don’t know, it kind of sucks honestly…doing it is obviously a cool accomplishment, but the fact that we lost the game kind of dampens it a little bit.”

On the night, Realmuto finished the game 4-4 at the plate with a walk, single, double, triple, and home run. He scored three times and notched 3 RBI. Unfortunately for the Phillies, they coughed up a 5-1 lead and their comeback fell short in the ninth inning, with Kody Clemens just missing a go-ahead two-run home run with Realmuto on second.
