WATCH: Mets third baseman Brett Baty hit in the face with baseball on embarrassing error against the Dodgers

The New York Mets are a dumpster fire.
With one out in the top of the ninth inning, the Los Angeles Dodgers had two men on base at second and third. Grant Hartwig got Max Muncy to pop up to third baseman Brett Baty in what should have been a routine infield fly-out.
Instead, Brett Baty took a baseball to the face and an embarrassing error. He ended up losing the ball air and diving to the ground as he tried to recover to make the catch. The baseball hit off the infield dirt and popped back up, smacking Baty in the face as a run crossed home plate.

The Dodgers would plate three runs in the top of the ninth inning to beat the New York Mets, who are now a miserable 42-50 on the season.
I mean honestly, there’s really nothing better than the New York Mets consistently embarrassing themselves on the baseball field. They deserve all the jokes and criticism since they enter every single MLB year acting like they are going to the World Series, only to to leave their fanbase in complete shambles halfway through the season.
The Mets are 19.5 games out of first place in the National League East standings and 8 games behind the third place Philadelphia Phillies. They are no where near a Wild Card spot either, which is a tough look for a team with the highest payroll in Major League Baseball.
lol.
Mets are in a disaster season! What a bad season for the Mets!
