Teoscar Hernandez listed as potential trade option for the Philadelphia Phillies ahead of the MLB Trade Deadline

Just hours ahead of the MLB Trade Deadline, the Phillies have been named as a possible landing spot for Seattle Mariners outfielder Teoscar Hernandez.
Phillies Potential Trade Partner for Teoscar Hernandez
According to Jon Morosi from MLB Network, Hernandez has drawn interest from several teams, including the Toronto Blue Jays, Philadelphia Phillies, and San Francisco Giants and a trade involving the 2021 All-Star is getting more and more likely.
A free agent following the 2023 season, Hernandez is currently in the midst of the worst season in his eight-year MLB career, slashing just .238/.288/.408 with 16 home runs and 58 RBIs in 105 games.
The biggest red flag with Hernandez is the fact that he has struck out this season an MLB-high 141 times entering last night.
Seattle, who are somewhat of a surprise seller ahead of the deadline, are currently 3.5 games out of a final spot in the AL Wild Card, but have already dealt closer Paul Sewald in a multi-player deal with the D-Backs on Monday.
It shouldn’t cost the Phillies much to land Hernandez if they decide the pull the trigger and they could definitely use another power bat in the lineup on the right side of the plate.
Against left-handed pitching this season, Hernandez slashing .303/.323/.573 with six home runs and six doubles and an .896 OPS.
Phillies Hunt for Red October
This season has been pretty bizarre for the Philadelphia Phillies.
They definitely haven’t put everything together as team with postseason aspirations on August 1st. However, they still hold the second-best record in Major League Baseball since June 2nd at 32-17 (.653) while winning just five out of their last 12 games.
With last night’s win, they find themselves back in a NL Wild Card spot with a half-game advantage on Arizona, Miami, and Milwaukee. The Cubs sit 3.5 games out after winning eight of 10 and the Padres are lingering 5 games out of a postseason position.

MLB Trade Deadline hits at 6PM.
