Reminder: Phillies will play the Nationals in the 2023 MLB Little League Classic in Williamsport, PA on Sunday Night Baseball

The Philadelphia Phillies split a two-game series in Toronto and will have the day off today before opening a weekend series against the Washington Nationals.
While the first two games this weekend will be played in D.C. as usual, the series finale will be played at the Historic Bowman Field in Williamsport, PA on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball broadcast from the Little League World Series.
Before the game, the Phillies and Nationals will attend the Little League World Series games earlier in the day before taking the field at night. It will mark the second time the Phillies appeared in the MLB Little League Classic after playing the New York Mets in 2018.
Pretty cool event from Major League Baseball, which started this “tradition” during the 2017 season but honestly, did you even know this was happening? For the life of me, I can’t figure out why the MLB front offices are so bad at marketing their players and cool events like this and in year’s past, the Field of Dreams games.
Side Note: Whatever happened to the Field of Dreams game? Did that get the axe? Nobody knows.
Media (Shoutout Delco) drops first game in LLWS 2-1
I’m a Delco guy so while we’re talking Little League World Series, we have to shoutout the team from Media, PA played their first game in Williamsport last night. Unfortunately, they fell to a team from Needville, Texas, on Wednesday night during their first game by a final score of 2-1.
The Little League World Series is double elimination so with the loss, Media now drops down to the elimination bracket and will take on the losing team in the Northwest vs. New England game. If they keep winning, they’ll be able to advance back into the winners bracket when it’s all said and done.
Give ’em hell boys.
Bryce Harper 2 Home Runs vs Blue Jays
After last night’s 9-4 win, the Phillies improved to 66-55 on the season and 6-4 over their last 10 games.
As I always say right here on The Liberty Line, the Hunt for Red October is through the NL Wild Card and the Phillies increased their lead in the top spot last night after the Giants lost and fell to 3-7 over their last 10 games.
