Trea Turner, Phillies explode in the 8th inning to demolish Nationals 12-3

The Philadelphia Phillies exploded in the eighth inning on Saturday afternoon to absolutely destroy the Washington Nationals 12-3.
Cristopher Sanchez was on the mound for The Fightins and bounced back after a few rough starts, throwing six solid innings. Sanchez allowed seven hits, three earned runs, and zero walks while striking out five.
All things considered, this game was complete misery until the final three innings when the Phillies finally got on the board after trailing 3-0.
Nick Castelanos lit a spark with his 21st home run of the season in the top of the seventh inning. The 3-run shot scored Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper and evened the game 3-3.

Ranger Suarez 15-Day IL, Zack Wheeler Tonight
Tonight the series finale against the Washington Nationals will be played in Williamsport, PA on Sunday Night Baseball for the 2023 MLB Little League Classic.
Ranger Suarez was put on the 15-day injured list with a right hamstring strain (retroactive to 8/16). To fill his spot on the 26-man roster, the Phillies recalled right-handed pitcher Andrew Bellatti from triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Zack Wheeler will be bumped up in the rotation to start tonight against Nationals’ Trevor Williams.
