Eagles Buzz: AJ Brown speaks on sideline flare-up with Jalen Hurts

In the third quarter of Thursday night’s win over the Vikings, the broadcast caught Eagles WR AJ Brown having a heated exchange with QB Jalen Hurts.

At first glance, Brown appeared to be upset about limited targets, with Hurts motioning “Relax, I got you.”

Brown was targeted three times afterward, seemingly in an effort to appease his frustrations. He wasn’t seen in the locker room when opened to media.

Several teammates addressed the flareup throughout the week, stating that it was a non-issue:

“That’s part of being a competitor,” said DeVonta Smith, who was caught in between the exchange. “You always want to feel like you’re part of the team. Anytime something like that’s going on, it’s not nothing bad. He’s not bashing nobody, man. He just wants to be part of the team, wants to help us.”

“I think everybody wants to make plays and everybody wants to contribute. I have no worry about him,” Hurts said. “He’s a great player, a great teammate, a great friend, and we’ll do anything and everything to win.

“We won. We won, I don’t want to make it bigger than what it is. We’re talking about external factors here, those things don’t matter. What’s said out there, that can potentially divide this group, doesn’t matter. We won.”

Brown spoke on the situation for the first time Thursday afternoon, reaffirming to reporters that everything is fine between himself and Hurts.

“It was a discussion. This is a game that we both love and I want everybody to understand that sometimes emotions run high, and that’s kinda what happened. That doesn’t mean that it’s the end of the world. That doesn’t mean that I’m beefin’ with Jalen.

No, it was not about targets. I’m sure everyone thought that ’cause he threw me the ball three times in a row afterward, but no, I was not over there discussing targets. It was something that happened earlier, and we were having a discussion about it. That’s all.

It’s not a big deal. Me and him are still on the same page. We’re still growing, we’re still trying to become great and get wins, most importantly.”

Last season, Gardner Minshew referred to the two as a ‘married couple.’ Hurts is the godfather of Brown’s daughter. Not to mention, Hurts was instrumental in bringing the Pro Bowl wideout to Philadelphia.

Whatever happened during the game was quickly handled. Regardless of how many people pray on the duo’s downfall, there isn’t any trouble in paradise.
