Charles Oakley Joel Embiid

Charles Oakley, one of the most overrated NBA players of all time, said he would have ‘smacked’ Joel Embiid during Game 3 against the Knicks

One of the most overrated NBA and Knicks players of all time, Charles Oakley, somehow managed to speak with Barbara Barker of Newsday and had the audacity to comment on Joel Embiid’s and his “style of play” in Game 3 against New York on Thursday night.

If you’re wondering why an irrelevant, overrated basketball hack like Charles Oakley was even interviewed in the first place, trust me, I am too.

For whatever reason, he decided to tell Newsday that he would have “smacked” Joel Embiid.

Overrated, Irrelevant, Charles Oakley on Joel Embiid

“They’ve got to do something about it,” said Oakley. “I wouldn’t be shaking their hands before the game when they play, friends or no friends. I wouldn’t shake Embiid’s hand or anyone’s hand. We are on a mission.”

“I probably would have smacked him,” Oakley added of Embiid. “You can’t let him send that kind of message. If he had done something like that [when I played], he would not have gotten away with it. David Robinson, when he played, he knew what he could get away with. They [bullies] pick a fight they think they are going to win.”

Yeah. No shit Oakley would have slapped Embiid. It’s hard to imagine a guy that averaged 9.7 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game would have any other type of impact in an NBA playoff game, let alone against Joel Embiid.

Charles Oakley is one of the most overrated NBA players of all time. This dude was only a 1x All-Star, 1x All-Defensive First Team, and 1x All-Defensive Second Team selection and if he wasn’t on the New York Knicks in the late 90’s while trying to fight people on the basketball court, no one would even know who he was or even recognize him if they passed him on the street.

On top of that, if Kenny Walker wasn’t such a defensive liability then Charles Oakley probably wouldn’t have even seen the basketball court. Point being, outside of being a great rebounder, Charles Oakley is nothing more than a historical footnote in the NBA.

On the other hand, you have Joel Embiid – who’s arguably one of the greatest centers of all time.

Of course, more playoff performances like he had in Game 3 against the Knicks would help his case. Even while playing injured, basically on one foot while dealing with a mild case of Bell’s Palsy, Embiid managed to score 50 points on 13-of-19 shooting.

I am so sick of the New York Knicks and their corny fanbase already. I have never witnessed such a large group of fake tough guys that in reality are a bunch of dorks trying to rekindle a “style of play” that hasn’t even been seen from the Knicks in over two decades.

These peanut brained idiots fell for this article I wrote yesterday hook, line, and sinker and are still crying about it on Twitter as I write this one. I’m dancing circles around these morons and by the looks of it – that will continue to happen until Embiid and the Sixers win this series and send the Knicks back to Cancun where they belong.

Here’s an idea – why don’t the Knicks, former players, and current players just shut up and hoop? Kelly Oubre reminded everyone today that’s how it should be tomorrow because the NBA isn’t the WEE.
