Dawn Staley accepting a Knicks care package is a betrayal of the highest order
Our Dawn, our Dawn, why have you forsaken us? That’s the feeling 76ers fans had when Dawn Staley posted a Knicks swag bag she received from the Brunson family on Twitter; a sharp departure from her support for her hometown team during their playoff series.
Dawn Staley ripped out the city’s collective heart with this tweet:
Can’t beat em join them. 🤣🤣🤣Thank you to my @nyknicks peeps for sending the NY love package! Thank you Rick! Thank you Jalen! Family for life! Win that ish!! pic.twitter.com/FqOc5D2OAC

Yeesh. Pain. Immense pain.
Now, look, I understand her relationship with the Brunson family. I don’t need a lecture on their history, which dates back to their paths crossing at Temple here in Philly. I’m aware of it, I respect it, and I reserve the right not to care about that at all.
It may be “bigger than basketball” to some people, but not me. This is actually entirely about basketball. Nothing more, nothing less.
To go from hooting and hollering on the sidelines and begging Sixers fans not to sell their tickets to rocking Knicks gear telling them to go win a championship is a pretty big switch up. I don’t care, if my best friend is starting QB for the Dallas Cowboys, I wouldn’t wish him a single ounce of good will, especially not publicly.
But that’s what happens when Dawn Staley’s public support from the Sixers was nothing more than a sham paid for by known money laundering operation Harris Blitzer Sports Entertainment. It’s sad, really.
