Recap: Flyers 5 @ Rangers 3

The Flyers dominated the Rangers for the second time this weekend with a 5-3 win up in Madison Square Garden. They now find themselves 1 point behind 1st place (WAS plays at 8pm in MIN) and are now 3 points clear of the 3rd place Penguins.
With their 6th straight game scoring 4 or more goals, these lamp-lighters from South Philly are making a full push towards the playoffs.
1st Period:
Matt Niskanen got it started, scoring just 2 minutes in after an early hooking call on the Rangers’ Ryan Lindgren. (Aube-Kubel, Sanheim)

3rd Period:
Rangers cut the lead to back to 2 after power-play goals by Buchnevich, and Zibneijad making it 5-3.
After a late flurry from the Rangers, the Flyers hold on winning the game 5-3.
The Flyers sweep the home and series against the Rangers, scoring twice as many goals (10) as the rivals from New York (5). Next up is a showdown Wednesday night against the division-leading Capitals.
Player of the Game: Sean Couturier (1g, Flu)
Sean Couturier not only battled the Rangers all game long, but he did so battling the flu. Scoring early in this game, Coots made sure that the Rangers would be getting a win over his dehydrated and aching body.
