Preview: Sabres at Flyers

We got some Saturday night action down at the barn tonight. It is a tale of two teams tonight, the Sabres have struggled as of late and currently sit 6th in the Atlantic Division, and the Flyers, who have now won 8 in a row and are tied for 1st in the Metropolitan Division.
The Flyers have had Buffalo’s number in their last three prior meetings; scoring 5 or more goals in each of those games. With that being said, the Sabres do have some talent on offense. Jack Eichel has put together another impressive season so far with 77 points, the next closest teammate has 50. The boys can not take this team lightly, they need laser focus to take care of business.
Key to the Game:
Special Teams. The Flyers power play continues to climb the league ranks, as they sit 8th in the league in power play percentage. The Sabres on the other hand currently are last in the league in penalty killing percentage, they have let up 47 power play goals. If the Flyers can get the Sabres to commit some penalties early, it could be a long night for Buffalo.
Player to Watch:
Travis Konecny. Once a promising prospect for the boys in orange, Konecny has for sure shown the NHL what he bring to the table: Speed, skill, and intensity. He has 24 goals, which leads the team with 37 assists. He also is 3rd on the team in power play goals with 5. Konencny always seems to be jawing at the opponent. Would love nothing more than for him to get under someone’s skin causing them to go to the box, and then before you know it, the Flyers score a power play goal.
