Alshon Jeffery Expected to Start Running Soon

Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery looks to be ahead in his timetable to return to the field. Jeffery was diagnosed with a Lisfranc foot injury in late November. The normal recovery time for this injury is about 9 months. It was reported today by Tim McManus of ESPN that Jeffery has no weight room restrictions, and will start running soon.

Jeffery looks to be in pretty good shape and being in the final year of his contract, he will be motivated to play well. Eagles fans have turned on Alshon Jeffery, as many believe that he is a “snake” in the locker room. In October an “anonymous Eagles player” payer spoke to former ESPN reporter Josina Anderson regarding a Jalen Ramsey trade and franchise QB Carson Wentz.
#Eagles player to me on Jalen Ramsey going to the #Rams: “We dropped the ball. I don’t even want to talk about that (!@#^). Everybody knew what it was going to take to get him. I could’ve told you that.”

“’We need to make bleep simpler. Sometimes we need to just handle what is manageable. Even Peyton Manning knew when to check it down.’”
These quotes cause quite a bit of unnecessary drama to the Eagles locker room. WIP’s Howard Eskin confirmed on the air that Jeffery was the source of that report, but even now there is still some speculation. Carson Wentz talked about his relationship a month ago and there seems to be no “bad blood” between the two.
Yeah, I’ve talked with Alshon. Alshon’s doing well, obviously coming back from that injury. Hoping he can be himself and just keep on rehabbing. But I’m confident that he will. And he’s doing well. He’s in a good place and I feel confident in his ability to be back out there helping the team. I’m excited for that. Yeah, I’m excited for Alshon.
Heading into this offseason it was then reported that the Eagles were looking to trade Alshon Jeffery. However, it looks like they were unable to find any trade partners because of Jeffery’s cap hit of 15 million dollars.
Whether you like Alshon now or not, he’s going to be here at least one more year. Even if Alshon can’t get back to what he was in 2017 and 2018, he is still talented enough to be a productive wide receiver for the team. With the Eagles injury history and the already bad start to the season with the loss of top guard Brandon Brooks, they always need depth. The Eagles are lacking a possession receiver without Jeffery, so when he’s cleared to come back it will be a nice weapon to the offense.
