JT Realmuto and the Phillies beat the Yankees 5-4

J.T. Realmuto is the best catcher in baseball. Even with the Phillies missing an entire week of the already shortened 60 game season, Realmuto leads all NL catchers in home runs and RBIs so far this season.
Realmuto wasted no time in adding to his numbers. In the 1st inning, after a Rhys Hoskins walk and Bryce Harper single, Realmuto smashed a 3-run shot to left field. Giving the Phillies an early 3-0 lead against the Yankees.

Zach Eflin, who made his 2020 debut tonight, let up two runs in the top of the 2nd to let the Yankees slide back into the game. The Phillies answered right back with future hall of famer Phil Gosselin driving in two runs on a bases clearing double.

Gosselin is on fire. He’s barely gotten any at bats and has more extra-base hits than Andrew McCutchen, Rhys Hoskins, Bryce Harper and Scott Kingery have combined. Love to see it.

The Yankees tacked on one more in the top of the 8th to make it 5-4. Girardi then called on Hector Neris to come in with 2 outs in the 8th. Neris went right after Aaron Judge and struck him out to escape further damage. Neris was confident and let me tell you, THE BALLS on Girardi to go after Judge…absolutely loved it.
Neris closed out the game and saved the day. Phillies win 5-4.
Other Notes:
The Phillies fans outside CBP behind Ashburn Alley continue to impress.
The belief here is that Yankees manager Aaron Boone complained about the airhorn that #Phillies fans are blowing outside the ballpark behind Ashburn Alley. Word travels fast. “Boone, you suck!” fans yell.

Absolutely love the air horn. Such a nice touch.
