Announcers and Chaos Outside of Citizens Bank Park Rattle Yankees

Troubling news from Citizens Bank Park was revealed last night as members of the New York Yankees Baseball Team told stories of sheer chaos and disruption during their 4-game series in Philly.

First we heard from JT Realmuto’s son Jordan Montgomery after last night’s game. Take a listen:
“I heard yesterday that their announcers were being really loud mid-pitch during JA and other guys’ pitches and not doing the same for their team. It’s kinda messed up that they’re out there, but it is what it is.”

Tom McCarthy, the Phillies play-by-play announcer, was being too loud the previous game when JA Happ was pitching. There was also a drum line outside of Citizens Bank Park playing the drums during the game! Could you even begin to imagine how hard that must have been for professional baseball players to focus?
While this may seem like no big deal, in reality, it’s just another case of Philadelphia being Philadelphia by putting a dark cloud around CBP in what was supposed to be a golf-like atmosphere for the self-proclaimed “Savage” Bronx Bombers.
“Drew, golf-like atmosphere at a Phillies game? Do you think you’re being a little dramatic? There’s absolutely no way that a professional baseball team would be rattled by a few noises and fans OUTSIDE the stadium when they typically play in front of 55,000 trashy New York fans, right?
Wrong. These are not my words. Yankees Skipper Aaron Boone was so rattled by an Air Horn from a group of fans behind Ashburn Alley outside of the stadium that he had to stop the game to tattle tale to the umpiring crew.

Honestly, Aaron Boone is right. Between the cardboard cutouts, the Phanatic screaming, Tom McCarthy mouthing off during pitches, CBP was absolute chaos and I’m not sure how they even finished the games.

“It’s almost like a golf environment”
“Didn’t know who or where it was coming from”

The Phillies have a huge problem on their hands, which is honestly refreshing given the fact it doesn’t deal with COVID-19 or racism. You have a group of kids gang outside that have given themselves an official name “Phandemic Krew” interrupting a golf-like atmosphere in CBP and an announcer who talks during the game.
Klentak needs to answer for the environment that his ball club has created at the stadium. It may be wise for Rob Manfred to step in. He’s been a terrific problem solver over the last few months and the Phillies have a real problem on their hands.
NBC Sports Philly should really consider bringing back Murph – who always made sure law and order prevailed around the stadium during games.
God forbid the Phillies and the city of Philadelphia try to have a little fun during the shittiest year in human history.
The Yankees are softer than baby shit. Expect the crowds to grow outside CBP as the season continues. Cheers to the Phandemic Krew. Thanks for taking us into the weekend.
Ring that bell, baby.
