Phillies Beat the Braves 13-8

Aaron Nola was on the mound in the final game of a 4-game series with the Braves. The Phillies started off hot in the bottom of the 1st after Phil Gosselin and Rhys Hoskins both had some base knocks to put 2 on for none other than Bryce Harper.

Bryce murdered a ball into the bullpen and the Phillies actually gave Aaron Nola a 3-run lead, which we all know, rarely ever happens. The Braves would answer right back in the top of the 2nd inning with a solo HR (d’Arnaud) to trim the lead to 3-1.
The Phillies bats stayed alive with a solo shot by Roman Quinn, his first of the year and the Phillies took a 4-1 lead.

The Phillies would load the bases in the bottom of the 2nd inning with JT Realmuto coming to the plate. Realmuto knocked in one on a single to left field for his 10th RBI of the season to give the Phillies a 5-1 lead.
From there, the game was busted wide open after Sir Didi Gregorious hit a grand slam to give the Phillies a 9-1 lead.

Jean Segura then belted a solo shot to right field and just like that, the Phillies were up 10-1. And still, the Phillies weren’t finished. The best catcher in baseball hit a home run deep to left field and the Phillies were up 12-1.
Kingery would score on a wild throw an inning later, making the score 13-1 in the 5th inning.
Aaron Nola pitched 8 innings, allowing 2 hits, one run, and struck out 10.
Nick Pivetta came in for the 9th inning and let up a 5 runs simply because Nick Pivetta is a bad pitcher and lets up runs when he pitches. Trevor Kelly followed and let up a few himself.
In the end, it didn’t matter. The Phillies win 13-8 and they got a much needed win to split the series with the Braves and move to one game below .500 on the season at 5-6.
OTHER NOTES:
Phillies were -1.5 in this game. That and the money line obviously hit.
I also took the UNDER at u9.5 which of course was a terrible decision.
Realmuto since the Phillies resumed play on Monday: 9-for-21, 4 HR, 9 RBIs, 8 runs. Only FOUR other players have more home runs than JT Realmuto and the Phillies missed an entire week of baseball.
31 of 52 runs this year for the Phillies have come from the long ball.
Aaron Nola – Zack Wheeler – Jake Arrieta this season: 43.1 IP, 31 H, 12 ER, 45 K, 7 BB, 2.49 ERA, 0.877 WHIP.
Ring that bell, baby.
