Report: Eagles and Zach Ertz Contract Negotiations Come to a “Halt”

The Philadelphia Eagles and Pro Bowl tight end Zach Ertz have come to a “halt” regarding a contract extension. Ian Rapoport reported that these negotiations stopped when the Eagles offered Ertz a contract that had less guaranteed money than a previous offer in November.
Sources: Negotiations between the #Eagles and TE Zach Ertz came to an abrupt halt when PHI made an offer that had less guaranteed money than their offer in November. The backloaded offer also had less cash over the next 4 seasons annually than Austin Hooper’s #Browns contract.

This is certainly an interesting development as Zach Ertz is arguably the greatest Eagles tight end of all time. With 2nd string tight end Dallas Goedert on a rookie contract and playing very well, the Eagles have a tough decision to make next year. Turning 30 in November, Ertz doesn’t have many years left and with the money he is asking for, it just wouldn’t be smart for the Eagles to agree to it.
