Phillies lose again in Extra Innings to the Nationals 8-7

To say the very least, it has not been a good week for the Phillies. In the midst of a playoff run, they simply had to handle business and win the games they were supposed to win. They did not.
Game three was a bullpen game for the Phillies. As expected, this game turned into a rollercoaster real fast. The Phillies jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before Jojo Romero and David Phelps let up a combined 6 hits and 6 runs in just 2/3rd innings of work, to put the Phillies down big yet again.
The Phillies, who finally showed some fight, were able to claw back into the game thanks to a 2-run double by Didi Gregorius and an infield single from JT Realmuto. The game was tied at six as we headed into “extra innings” of the 7-inning double header game.
The Phillies were able to take a 7-6 in the top of the 8th. Brandon Workman entered the game in the bottom of the 8th and let up a 2-run home run to Yadiel Hernandez.
The Phillies lost 8-7. There were plenty of opportunities to blow this game open. The bases were loaded twice in the final two innings. You can never trust this bullpen to hold any type of lead let alone a 1-run lead. The Phillies have to score runs.
The Phillies are now 27-29 and have now dropped out of playoff contention. They are currently sitting in the 10th seed in the playoff standings.
Ricky Bo said it best, “this is a sad, sad, bullpen.”
Demoralizing.
