Looking back at the reactions to drafting JJ Arcega-Whiteside

Hindsight is always 20/20 when it comes to draft selections and how they’ve turned out. When the Eagles selected JJ Arcega-Whiteside with the 57th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, some were excited about the pick. Others, not so much:

It doesn’t help that the Stanford product was taken just 7 picks before one of the top WRs in the game currently, DK Metcalf:

  • JJAW Career: 11 catches, 206 yards, 1 TD
  • Metcalf this season: 22 catches, 496 yards, 5 TDs

We should also acknowledge that even if Metcalf was drafted here, he would either be injured or so poorly coached that the team wouldn’t know what to do with him. Regardless, it would’ve been nice for the Eagles to draft a player based on pure talent alone.
