The Return of Will Parks May Be More Important Than You Realize

As we all know, the Eagles have been devastated by injuries and we are only five weeks into the season. However, it looks like newly acquired Eagles safety Will Parks might make his debut this weekend and could help more than you realize.
We all know by now that the one big glaring hole on this Eagles team is the linebacker position. It has been reported by NFL Insider Adam Caplan that they have “big plans” for Will Parks, and I think I know what those plans could be.
Remember last year when Jim Schwartz had Malcolm Jenkins play a linebacker role on some snaps? Well, once Will Parks, is activated, I’d expect the same thing. In nickel situations, the Eagles can take a linebacker off the field (hopefully Nate Gerry), and bring an extra safety onto the field. With how poor the linebacking play has been so far, having the ability to remove one off the field will help the Eagles defense immediately. Parks is versatile and a heavy hitter. He will bring some intensity to this Eagles secondary.
This offseason it is clear that Howie Roseman needs to invest some money into improving the linebacker position while developing rookies Shaun Bradley and Davion Taylor. They are pretty much stuck at the moment and need to figure out how to help the linebackers.
If Parks is available for Sunday, expect him to have a huge role right off the bat. Parks was an underrated signing, and many people will find out why very soon. He’s been waiting for weeks to be able to play and head coach Doug Pederson said he’s “healthy and ready to go”.
