Jameer Nelson hired in front office role for the Sixers

The Sixers front office shakeup continues and to many people’s surprise, Philadelphia native and former NBA player Jameer Nelson is joining the new front office.
Jameer Nelson, a Chester PA native, as well as a 14-year NBA veteran, has found himself back home. Nelson starred for the Saint Joe’s Hawks in the early 2000’s and helped the school to its undefeated 27-0 regular season in 2003-04. He’s an NBA All-Star and spent time with the Detroit Pistons. the Mavericks, Celtics, Magic, Nuggets and Pelicans during his 14-year career.
Now, he is getting into the management side of the NBA with the Sixers. Nelson recently interviewed for the St. Joe’s basketball job, which ended up going to Billy Lange.
Nelson had this to say following the results.
“It is what it is,” he said. “I’m not bitter about the situation, it is what it is. I wish them nothing but luck. That was just the ideal situation for me. I live 15 minutes from the university, I know Philly basketball, know enough people to be able to recruit, had other things in place.
Jameer Nelson will be a scout, as well as an assistant GM for the Delaware Blue Coats.
