According to Ice Athletics, the new Flyers alternate jersey has leaked. The new concept, which has apparently been in the works in the league offices is called “reverse retro.”

“This “fourth jersey” program has been described to Icethetics as “throwbacks with a twist”—as Icethetics reported in JerseyWatch 2020. I’ve been told they will be part of a line called the Reverse Retro series. And these new designs fit that bill.“

The Flyers retro sweaters resemble the ones worn in the 1980’s but with the white reversed and replaced with black.

The Penguins jersey is a replica of their 1990’s home jersey.

The internet says they look too much like Phantom jerseys and too “modern” rather than the always traditional Flyers sweaters. I’d rather find out when the NHL is actually starting and worry about the jerseys later.
