The Phillies Hire New Pitching Coach

The Philadelphia Phillies have hired now former Reds assistant pitching coach Caleb Cotham.
This is a great hire by the Phillies. The Reds pitching staff has been among the best in Major League Baseball the last two seasons and Reds pitcher Trevor Bauer won the 2020 NL Cy Young.
Cotham is replacing former Cincinnati Reds manager Bryan Price. Price resigned after one season as Philadelphia’s pitching coach, a position he previously held with the Reds.
Many of the Reds players have praised Cotham for his work with them over the past two seasons. He was brought up under Derek Johnson who has long been regarded as one of the best pitching coaches in the league.
Looks to be a solid move in the right direction for the Phillies, who still have yet to hire a GM or make any type of free agency moves. Speaking of Trevor Bauer, now with Cotham on the Phillies, who are a team that wants to “win now”, there’s a strong connection back to Bauer who could be targeted in free agency by the Phillies.
If you’re wondering, I’m ready for #TrevorBauerSZN and ultimately being disappointed when he doesn’t sign with the Phillies and JT Realmuto ends up on an NL East rival team.
Feed me the pain, baby.
