Spend Now: The Window of Opportunity is closing yet again for the Phillies

If the Philadelphia Phillies do not spend money this year, it will completely ruin the current foundation that the Phillies are supposed to be building upon. Right now, you have the following players under contract.
- Aaron Nola
- Rhys Hoskins
- Zach Eflin
- Zack Wheeler
All the players listed above will become free agents by the year 2024. If the Phillies do not spend the money to bring back JT Realmuto, then it’s safe to assume that they thought their window of opportunity to make a run at a World Series was….two years?
Pretty wild to even think that would be the case given the fact this team can barely finish a season at .500. Trading away Sixto Sanchez for two years of JT Realmuto would be a tremendous failure by the Phillies front office.
The way this Phillies team is currently constructed, there are holes throughout the entire roster that need to be filled. Failure to do so now could send the Phillies into a state of mediocracy and a dooms day scenario where come 2024, Bryce Harper and Alec Bohm are the only two stars left on the Philadelphia Phillies.
The time to win is now. The Phillies absolutely have to spend money this offseason. We have three to four years with our current foundation of players, plus Bryce Harper and Alec Bohm, to make it happen.
