Phillies will conduct second round interviews with two candidates

The Phillies continue their slow crawl search for a new head of baseball operations. The team will conduct second-round interviews with Josh Byrnes and Michael Hill.

According to sources, the team will conduct second interviews with candidates Josh Byrnes and Michael Hill. Byrnes was executive vice president and general manager of the Arizona Diamondbacks (2005-2010) and the San Diego Padres (2011-2014). He joined the Dodgers in 2014.
Byrnes won a world series in Boston as an assistant general manager. In Arizona, he was responsible for drafting Max Scherzer, trading Max Scherzer, and drafting Paul Goldschmidt. He drafted Trea Turner, Max Fried and Zach Eflin with the Padres. Not too shabby, Byrnes.
Michael Hill is the former GM and president of baseball operations of the Miami Marlins.
Per reports, it looks like the Phillies appear to be targeting candidates to serve as president of baseball operations, who would report to ownership and potentially hire their own GM. There seems to be no timeline for when this will actually happen. We haven’t heard from Phillies ownership in almost two months.
There are no additional reports of any candidates other than Byrnes and Hill receiving second interviews.
