The Flyers are now in the new look East Division and are only going to play those teams exclusively. The division is as follows:
Boston, Buffalo, New Jersey, New York Islanders, New York Rangers, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Washington. A really tough division but who cares… hockey is back.
Some rule changes of note going into the new season are:
Entry-level slide rule for players starting the season is set to 7 games allowed instead of the usual 10.
Training camp will feature 36 skaters and unlimited goalies. (Good for a goalie factory like us)
The official opt-out deadline will be December 24th for non-playoff teams, and the 27th for playoff clubs. Group II RFAs must be signed by February 11th to play this season.
Playoffs will be top 4 in each division, each division produces a Stanley Cup Semi-Finalist which means assumingely the 1-seed plays the 4-seed, and 2 plays 3.
Each team will have a 4 man “Taxi Squad” of players technically in the AHL and on minor salaries, but can fill in for the big club when need be.
