76ers pick up third year option for Matisse Thybulle

The Philadelphia 76ers have exercised Matisse Thybulle’s third year option for his rookie contract. Matisse was the 20th selection in the 2019 NBA Draft and has been one of the better 76ers draft selections in recent memory.
Thybulle was considered one of the best defenders in Philadelphia last season, averaging 1.4 steals per game. This season Matisse has gotten off to a rocky start and is currently on the outside looking in with the current bench rotation. Through 3 games this season Thybulle has played a total of 14 minutes. Hopefully as the season progresses he will be able to find his spot in the rotation once again.
Matisse’s rookie contract has both third and fourth year options and is signed through 2023. The option for the 2021-2022 season is worth $2.8 million and will rise to $4.3 million for his last year on the contract. Between Shake Milton, Tyrese Maxey, and Matisse Thybulle the 76ers have their young guys locked up for several seasons.
