Eagles-Washington Week 17 Preview

Tonight marks the end of the Eagles season as they face the Washington Football team at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday Night Football. While there are no playoff implications looming for the Eagles, this game still determines where the Eagles will select in the 2021 NFL Draft and playoff implications for Washington.
Currently, the Eagles are 4-10-1 and hold the 6th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Washington wins the NFC East with a win over Philadelphia but the Eagles can play spoiler with a win. Depending on how tomorrow night goes, the Eagles can move up as far as the 3rd pick to as low as the 10th pick. You can check out the entire implications here.
This will also be a game of goodbyes. Eagles’ defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz will be stepping down following the game. Schwartz has been the Eagles DC for 4 seasons and helped lead Philadelphia to a Super Bowl. Tight End Zach Ertz will likely be playing his last game in midnight green. Ertz has played 8 years in Philadelphia and cements himself as one of the best Eagles’ tight-ends ever. Desean Jackson, Jason Peters, and Alshon Jeffery are some other long time Eagles who will likely be gone following tomorrow. Both Peters and Jackson are both out tomorrow.
Philadelphia lost to Washington in week 1, 27-17. This likely won’t be a close game with Philadelphia resting Fletcher Cox, Miles Sanders, Dallas Goedert, and several more starters. Jalen Hurts will get one more game under his belt while Philadelphia decides this offseason on who they will be choosing between Carson Wentz and Hurts.
Several staffing changes are expected following this game but Doug Pederson and Howie Roseman’s jobs look to be secure going into 2021. Be sure to stay tuned to The Liberty Line for all of your Eagles’ updates.
