Joel Embiid Named Eastern Conference Player of the Week

Joel Embiid has been named the NBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week. It’s fifth time Embiid has won the award in five NBA seasons. With his fifth time earning the award, Embiid joins Charles Barkley (7) and Allen Iverson (20) as the only players on the Sixers to win the award at least five times.
The Sixers went 3-0 during the week and Embiid’s stat sheet was no fewer than 33 points and 10 rebounds in those games. The only Sixers players in franchise history to post 30-10 in three straight games would be Charles Barkley and Wilt Chamberlain. Embiid now has fifty 30-10 performances in 223 games played. The only player to reach that milestone faster than Embiid in NBA history would be Shaq. On top of all that, Embiid made 12-or-more free throws in all three games.
The Sixers are back at it tonight vs the Detroit Pistons. They are sitting atop of the Eastern Conference with a 12-5 record and Embiid is playing MVP-caliber basketball.
