JT REALMUTO IS STAYING IN PHILADELPHIA
The Best Catcher in Baseball is staying in Philadelphia. According to reports, the Philadelphia Phillies and catcher J.T. Realmuto are in agreement on a five-year, $115.5 million contract.
After months of uncertainty, Realmuto and the Phillies have finally reached an agreement. This is a fantastic deal for the Phillies and Realmuto. Realmuto will earn an AAV of $23.1 million dollars, which is the highest ever for a Major League catcher in baseball history and even better, Realmuto will be off the books at 34-years old.
Realmuto will be paid $20 million in 2021. $10 million is deferred with half being paid in 2026 and half being paid in 2027. He will be paid $23.875 million in each of the final four years. $1 million bonus if traded. According to Jayson Stark the deal includes no signing bonus, no options and no buyouts. JT Realmuto is here to stay.
Plenty more on this later. For now, we can all breathe a collective sigh of relief.
