Ben Simmons and Matisse Thybulle to join Australia for Summer Olympics

Some Sixers are going to be getting in some extra basketball this offseason. Ben Simmons and Matisse Thybulle will be joining the Australian National Team for this summer’s Olympics in Tokyo. The two Sixers will be joining several other NBA players on the Boomers.
The 2021 Olympics will be Simmons and Thybulle’s first time representing Australia on this kind of stage. The Boomers used to be coached by former 76ers head coach Brett Brown, but he resigned in early October. Former 76er Ryan Broekhoff is also part of the squad.
Other Australian players include Joe Ingles, Matthew Dellavedova, Thon Maker, and Patty Mills. In the 2016 Olympics, Australia lost in the semi-finals to Serbia. With the firepower of a star like Ben Simmons, hopefully, they can make a further push.
