A very good injury update for Joel Embiid

Joel Embiid had an MRI today on his left knee after coming down awkwardly on it last night against the Washington Wizards. Sixers fans can all breathe a sigh of relief.

According to Woj / ESPN, Embiid’s MRI showed no structural damage to his left knee. Embiid does have a bone bruise, but his ACL and meniscus are fine. Embiid is expected to miss 2-3 weeks.

Given the fact that there’s no structural damage is the best possible scenario for the 76ers, who currently sit atop of the Eastern Conference with a 25-12 record and a one game lead on the Brooklyn Nets.

Joel Embiid is currently playing at an MVP-caliber level, averaging 29.9 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game on 52.5 percent from the floor. Embiid is shooting 42.2 percent from three point range and 85.9 percent from the foul line.

The Sixers will be back in action tomorrow against the San Antonio Spurs. Ben Simmons and 3,000 Sixersโ€™ fans are expected to return to the Wells Fargo Center as the we all wait for a recovery timetable for Joel Embiid.
