Report: Joe Flacco scheduled to meet with Eagles

Veteran quarterback and former Super Bowl champion Joe Flacco is scheduled to meet with the Eagles soon, according to PFT. Flacco has been traveling around the league since he departed from the Ravens in 2018. He spent a year in Denver and signed last offseason with the New York Jets before hitting free agency this offseason. During his 13 year career, Flacco has thrown for over 40,000 yards and 224 touchdowns.
Philadelphia has been looking at several backup quarterback options. Some have reported that former Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles could return home alongside other options. Moneywise, Flacco isn’t the worst option. In 2020 he made just $1.5 million in his one-year deal with the Jets. Flacco’s issue isn’t his salary; it’s his relationship in the quarterback room.
Any QB that Philly would want to bring in to back up Hurts should be someone who can teach him both on and off the field and be a mentor. When Joe was in Denver with then-rookie QB Drew Lock, this is what he said about helping Lock:
“I’m not worried about developing guys or any of that. That is what it is. I hope he does develop. I don’t look at that as my job.”
That mindset is not what you want to bring into Philadelphia, but hopefully, it was just a one-off quote and would adapt to a different role here. The Eagles are slim on cap space after spending most of their space on standout safety Anthony Harris last week.
