Phillies send three players to injury list, call up players from Lehigh Valley

The Philadelphia Phillies announced today that LHP Jose Alvarado, INF Ronald Torreyes, and LHP Matt Moore will be heading to the injury list. To fill their spots on the roster, the club has recalled LHP Damon Jones, INF Nick Maton, and LHP Christopher Sanchez all from Lehigh Valley (AAA). These “injuries” appear to be the result of COVID protocols.
It has also been been announced that first base coach Paco Figueroa and assistant coach Bobby Meacham have entered COVID-19 protocols. Infield coach Juan Caster will service as first base coach and Lehigh Valley manager Gary Jones will serve as third base coach.
Vincent Velasquez is likely to start on Friday against the Rockies at Coors Field in place of Matt Moore who is one of the three players on the IL because of COVID protocols.
Nick Maton will make his big-league debut tonight, getting the start at shortstop. Did Gregorius’ right elbow is bothering him after making a catch in the outfield the other night. The move is more precautionary.
The Phillies will play the Giants tonight at 7:05 pm.
