Mickey Moniak, Spencer Howard on the move, Herrera activated, and more roster changes for the Phillies

The Phillies have activated left-handed pitchers José Alvarado & Matt Moore off the Injured List and selected the contract of OF Odúbel Herrera. Additionally, LHP Bailey Falter, RHP Spencer Howard and OF Mickey Moniak were optioned to the alternate site.
I honestly have no idea how Roman Quinn continues to survive on the Phillies roster. Opting to keep in at the MLB level while Mickey Moniak is optioned to the alternate site is bananas. The Phillies clearly value him as a switch hitter, the problem is that he doesn’t hit. Moniak will be able to play full-time at the minor league level and continue to grow. Herrera’s contract has been selected which means he’s now activated on the Phillies’ 40-man roster. Odubel Herrera will get a shot in centerfield. An official announcement to bring him up to the Phillies MLB roster should be expected shortly.
Moore with an ERA north of nine looks like he will get another shot to keep his spot in the Phillies rotation but will need time. Girardi has stated that Vincent Velasquez will start on Wednesday. As expected, Spencer Howard will return to the minors and get consistent opportunities to pitch as a member of the starting rotation.
UPDATE: Herrera is starting tonight.
