Alabama WR DeVonta Smith: “I would love to play with Jalen Hurts again”

The relationship between Jalen Hurts and future first-round pick DeVonta Smith is well documented. The two played together in Alabama for two years before Hurts transferred to Oklahoma, with Smith having a more prominent role in 2018. NFL writer Jeff Kerr of CBS Sports had a chance to speak with Smith recently and he had glowing remarks for his former teammate:

When it comes to desired destinations in the draft, it sounds like Smith would welcome the opportunity to play in front of the passionate fanbase:

Hard work, dedication, committed, a competitor that will do whatever it takes to win. Playing in front of that fanbase is second to none.

DeVonta Smith on what Eagles fans will get if heโ€™s drafted by Philly.

After trading back to the #12 overall pick last month, the Eagles will have to remain hopeful that the Heisman Trophy winner will even be available when they make their selection. The Eagles haven’t drafted an Alabama player since 2002, where they took WR Freddie Milons in the 5th-round.

If Smith falls down the board due to his size, there are a lot of worse picks the Eagles could (and probably will) make than securing a familiar, dynamic weapon for Jalen Hurts.
