Phillies to wear special hats for Mother’s Day and Armed Forces Weekend

The MLB will have its third annual Armed Forces Weekend on May 15th and 16th. The Phillies will be down in Florida facing the Toronto Blue Jays in the final two games of a three-game series during this weekend. For the last several years, the MLB has had unique hats for these games. Like every other MLB team, the Phillies will have a unique hat for the event and accessories like gloves or belts, but wear their regular uniforms. There were plans to have the event this last season with caps announced, but MLB canceled the event due to COVID-19.

Back in 2019 was the last time games were able to be played during the Armed Forces Weekend. The Phillies wore the camouflage hats alongside their cream uniforms and will likely do a similar combination in two weeks. This upcoming Sunday, the Phillies will wear special Mother’s Day hats when facing the Atlanta Braves. They look the same as the usual hats, but the P will be light pink with a band on the side of the hat.

There have been several rumors about new uniforms coming on the way from Nike. Earlier this season, Nike announced that City uniforms would be coming over the next several years, adapting the idea from the NBA. The Phillies were not part of the initial group, but will likely have them next season.
