Jean Segura and Ronald Torreyes will begin rehab assignments in Lehigh Valley for the Iron Pigs Tonight

Jean Segura and Ronald Torreyes will suit up for Lehigh Valley tonight to take on Rochester at 7:05. The two have been away from the team for a little over two weeks. Segura (quad) and Torreyes (COVID) will get some reps in the minors before coming back up with the team.
Jean Segura exited the game on April 20th with a quad strain, and hasn’t seen playing time since. He’s been sidelined on the IL for just about two weeks, and tonight will be his first live action since then.
Segura had a monster start to the year for the Phils, hitting .333 with an .809 OPS, raking in twenty hits and five RBIs in just 17 games. Segura was the hottest hitter on the team before he was sent to the IL, and the Phillies took a blow due to it. Although losing Segura would hurt the team, Nick Maton has impressed everyone since joining the Phillies from the minors and leaves Joe Girardi with a decision on where to put Maton when Segura returns to the Phillies. Hint: Centerfield
Ronald Torreyes only had five at bats this season before he was placed on the injured list. He isn’t seeing much time with the team, but is a solid backup utility guy in desperate times. Giving him time in the minors will never hurt a guy who simply needs to keep his confidence up and his game fresh.
While Jean Segura and Ronald Torreyes will be suiting up for Lehigh tonight, the Phillies will look to win two in a row for the first time since their opening series tonight. Aaron Nola (2-1, 3.11 ERA, 9.3 K/9) will take the mound tonight for the Phils, as the Brewers line up Eric Lauer (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 5.4 K/9). Look for a bounce back game from Nola tonight, with big nights coming from the middle of the lineup as well while Bryce Harper is still sidelined with a sore wrist.
