Flyers Recall Cam York and Felix Sandstrom to the Taxi Squad

On this fine Thursday in Philadelphia Chuck Fletcher finally did the thing, he recalled both Cam York and Felix Sandstrom to the taxi squad and their debuts could be soon to follow. York was seen on a pair with Morin in practice today.
Given Robert Hagg was with Jackson Cates, it sure looks like Cam York (here with Ian Laperriere) is set to make his NHL debut Friday against the Capitals. York is paired with Samuel Morin in practice. pic.twitter.com/a3bAH9Oo1s

Cam York has crushed every obstacle set in his path since being drafted to Philadelphia and even more so this season. My good friend and co-host Chris Stumpo wrote an article before the season listing some young players that could impact the Flyers this season with Cam York being one of them, but it was a longshot pick that would only cash if the cards fell completely right for York.
Well, becomes a leader and lights up Michigan, gets named captain of Team USA and wins gold, goes back to Michigan a man amongst children, and then he dismantled an AHL team in front of our eyes last night. Cam York has earned this chance and good on him, what a year it has been for him.

1G-1A on the night! LETS GO #44! #Flyers pic.twitter.com/N1WZAXqDt0
On the Felix Sandstrom front, I think this is more of the Flyers just seeing where his game is currently at and what his stock in the pipeline is at this time. I wouldn’t be surprised if he got some playing time in the next upcoming games because the Flyers truly have nothing to lose at this point and are just keeping inventory if you will. Sandstrom’s AHL numbers were:
- Games Played: 9
- Goals Allowed Average: 3.45
- Save PCT%: .897
To be honest, Cam York making his NHL debut is the most exciting event in Flyers hockey this year, and I will be treating this like a holiday. It has officially been confirmed for Friday and he will see time on the second power-play unit, per AV. York’s AHL statistics were the following:
- Games Played: 6
- Goals: 2
- Assists: 3
- Points: 5
Let’s all enjoy this moment, it’s always fun to watch the future. If he continues to crush these new challenges like he has been doing there’s a pretty good chance you’ll never see him leave this team.
YORK TIME BABY!
