Phillies Roster Moves: Jean Segura Re-Instated to the Big Leagues as Mickey Moniak Heads Back Down

The Phillies gain a big bat back in their lineup ahead of tonight’s series kickoff vs the Atlanta Braves. Second basemen Jean Segura has been re-instated to the team off of the ten day IL, as Mickey Moniak is called back down to the AAA site. The team’s hottest hitter to start the year is now back in the lineup, as Maton will most likely head to the bench.
Jean Segura was the Phillies most consistent hitter in his first 17 games this season before he was sidelined with a quad injury. He was hitting .333 with twenty hits and seven runs, including four doubles. Jean came into camp early in spring training 14 pounds lighter. That paid off, as he was playing his best baseball as a member of the Phillies.
Mickey Moniak will be heading back down to AAA, again. The Moniak up and downs are starting to get tiring, and I believe it’s killing his confidence. We saw in his few games with the team this year that he isn’t 100% ready to play everyday in the majors. Keep him in Triple A, let the kid rake, and get him ready for next season.
The Phillies will start a three game stint with the Atlanta Braves tonight at 7:20 PM. Zach Eflin (1-1, 3.49 ERA, 34 Ks) will take the hill for the team tonight, as the Braves will start Charlie Morton (2-1, 5.08 ERA, 39 Ks).
