Phillies Roster Moves, Lineup for Tonight’s Game Against the Marlins

The Philadelphia Phillies are back in action tonight against the Miami Marlins. After a much needed day off yesterday, Zack Wheeler is set to take the mound tonight against Cody Poteet and the fish. Ahead of tonight’s game, the Phillies have also announced a bunch of roster moves.
Archie Bradley and Ronald Torreyes will be reinstated from the injured list and will be active for tonight’s game. The Phillies desperately needed another infielder, even more so with both Scott Kingery and Didi Gregorius heading to the injured list.
Kingery, who ran into a wall in right field in Sunday’s 10-8 loss to the Blue Jays, will be placed on the 7-day concussion injured list. Didi Gregorius, who was hoping to avoid a trip to the injured list with a sore right elbow, will in fact, head to the injured list.
Didi Gregorius left the game during the Phillies’ 5-2 win against the Washington Nationals in the middle of the fifth inning due to stiffness in his right elbow last week. Gregorius, who missed five days in late April, including three games, landed on his elbow trying to make a catch in the outfield. The fact that Gregorius is moving to the injured list means that his injury is more serious than initially thought.
In the worst news from today, Jojo Romero will be moved to the 60-day injured list. Romero pitched back-to-back games last week against Milwaukee, with his four-seam fastball averaging 96.4 mph on May 4th, and then 94.4 mph on May 5th. The following day, Romero was sent to the injury list with a sprained elbow. The Phillies ordered various tests on Romero’s left elbow last week and it turns out those tests did not bring back any positive results. He will undergo Tommy John Surgery, which likely brings an end to his season.
