Jalen Hurts “not above competition”, wants people to see him as an accountable QB

Presumed Eagles starting QB Jalen Hurts spoke with the media this afternoon and had a lot of encouraging things to say. Hurts first spoke of new head coach Nick Sirianni and how he preaches connection and accountability.
When Hurts was asked about Joe Flacco, Hurts stated that Flacco has been great and he brings a lot of knowledge to the quarterback room. Hurts then stated that he knows he isn’t above competition and that everyone is hungry. He wants the offense to be efficient, learn from his mistakes, and doesn’t want to be a “repeat offender.”
When asked his opinion on the moves the Eagles have this offseason, Hurts stated that they have a “we all we got, we all we need” mentality regardless of who’s on the team, and has 100% belief in whoever is on the field. Hurts also stated that the team did discuss selecting WR DeVonta Smith with him before the draft.
Hurts was then asked about his relationship with new QB coach Brian Johnson and stated that “Coach BJ” has always been there for him and how he grew up watching Johnson play. Hurts mentioned that they always talked about how Johnson would coach him one day and how everything has come full circle.
Hurts stated that he respects everything Sirianni is implementing and that the team is buying in. He went on to say that his intent doesn’t change now that he’s the leader and that he wants people to see him as an accountable quarterback who brings people together:
“Rent is due everyday, and I don’t plan on missing any payments.”

Hope, Jalen Hurts keeps that same energy when Joe Flacco pulls a Nick Foles.
