Darius Slay reveals one DeVonta Smith skill that will ‘shock’ fans

DeVonta Smith was drafted just a month ago and he’s impressed at every turn thus far. Smith’s work ethic has gotten praise from several NFL players, ranging from Colts LB Darius Leonard to Hall of Fame WR Tim Brown.
The latest player to admire the Heisman winner is teammate Darius Slay. During his latest Twitch stream, Slay was asked by the chat on his opinion of Smith and his slim frame at the pro level:
“What’s my take on Smith’s size? I ain’t worried. Worked with him the other day a little bit, talking to him about a little ball. He’s heading in the right direction. He knows what he’s talking about, he knows how to win 1-on-1 matchups, and that’s what we need from our receiving corps right now. I think he’ll win a lot of 1-on-1 matchups. I’m not going to be shocked about it. Y’all might be shocked about it.”
That’s certainly encouraging to hear from a top corner like Darius Slay, who has seen his fair share of dynamic receivers in his career. With Jalen Hurts gearing up for his first year as a starter, having Smith create separation consistently would make his life a lot easier.
